General requirements for surface treatment of coated steel

1) The surface treatment of building steel structure works shall be carried out in strict accordance with the rust removal method specified in the design and reach the specified rust removal level after the steel structure is manufactured and installed and accepted.

2) Before derusting, the burr, weld coating, welding spatter, oil, dust, acid, alkali, salt and other pollutants on the steel surface shall be cleaned. The cleaning method of oil stain depends on the material of workpiece, the type of oil stain and other factors. Usually, solvent cleaning or alkaline solution cleaning are used.

3) The maintenance paint of components shall be treated according to the specific conditions. If the coating is in good condition, sandcloth and steel velvet can be used for roughening, and the primer can be directly sprayed after cleaning. If the coating is damaged, it must be removed completely.
