Steel beam refers to the beam made of steel. Generally, there are hot-rolled formed steel beams (H-shaped steel or I-shaped steel) or steel plates welded to form composite beams (welded H-shaped steel or variable cross-section steel), which bear all the weight of the components in the superstructure of the building and the roof. It is an important part of the steel structure building.

H-shaped steel beam: after being heated, the billets are rolled for several times, then cut and straightened into section steel, mainly H-shaped steel and I-shaped steel. However, the application scope of this steel beam is limited due to its fixed specification and length.

Variable section steel beam: according to the stress analysis, a larger section is used at the place where the bending moment is large, and a smaller section is used at the place where the bending moment is small, so as to save materials and reduce the weight of the steel beam, and give consideration to the economy while ensuring safety.
