Helical piers, also known as helical anchors, piles or screw piles, are deep foundation solutions used to secure new or repair existing foundations. Due to their design and ease to install, they are most commonly used whenever soil conditions prevent standard foundation solutions. Instead of requiring large excavation work, they thread into the ground. Helical piers are round or square, tubular or bar steel shafts with round helix plates welded to them.
Photovoltaic screw ground pile can reduce the cost of the foundation of the support system, shorten the installation time, and reduce the environmental impact of the ground photovoltaic support system. As a quick and cost-effective solution, it is applicable to all major solar photovoltaic, wind energy and construction industries. Its high load performance, stability, settlement resistance and pull-out resistance are the reasons for its rapid development.
The first piece of the helical pile is called the lead; this is the piece that is first rotated into the ground. The lead has multiple helical blades, also referred to as helical bearing plates, that can vary in size, shape, and number. After the lead follows any number of extensions, depending on the required torque or depth. These are simply shafts that are bolted and pinned to the lead and to each other at their ends. The top of the pile is the incorporated into the foundation system via a bracket or other connection method.
Helical Piles are used worldwide to secure residential and commercial buildings, tower foundations, heavy equipment foundations, and many other deep foundation system applications.
