The water conference center is characterized as a temporary building, which needs to meet the needs of dismantling and reassembling on other sites. Considering the characteristics of the natural landscape of the site, we finally chose the steel and wood structure system to construct it. All the components were prefabricated in the factory and finally assembled on site to meet the schedule, while also taking advantage of the warmth of the wood and integrating it into the environment.
Compared with the standardized, large-scale and inward-looking traditional conference model, this design makes full use of the surrounding landscape resources to create a characteristic, ecological and landscaped conference center, which comply with the overall requirements of Chongming Island. At the same time, we hoped to integrate the water conference center into the environment and weaken the primary and secondary facades in order to create multiple opportunities to interact with the surrounding places. What's more, we design a centripetal structure of a large space to contain 150 people, which can be viewed from multiple directions. The VIP room extends outward in the radius direction with an independent viewing platform to ensure comfort and privacy. The centripetal shape also makes it possible to have the largest usable space with the smallest land area.
