The framework of steel structure factory building is a stable structure composed of columns, beams (or trusses) and supports. It bears and transmits all loads and external actions to the foundation. However, in the design, the framework of factory building is often divided into two independent systems: horizontal framework and vertical structure. The errors caused by this method can be partially compensated in the space work of the structure.

The steel structure factory building frame is the main bearing structure of the factory building frame. It is a plane structure composed of columns and frame beams. All the horizontal water loads and most of the vertical loads are transmitted to the foundation through the factory building frame. In industrial buildings, the steel structure workshop frame has the following three most common structural types:;

1. Single story steel structure workshop frame - a single story frame (which can be called workshop bent when column top is hinged) composed of workshop step column and frame beam (roof truss or roof beam, which is hinged or rigidly connected on column top),

2. Single layer rigid frame - a single layer frame opening formed by rigid connection of columns with constant or gradual sections and frame beams at the top of columns

3. Multi story frame -- a multi story frame connected by columns, floor beams (or trusses) and roof beams (or roof truss).
