No rust or burr. This method is easy to implement, simple equipment, low labor cost, and is not limited by the size of the construction site conditions. It is a commonly used derusting method in steel structure maintenance engineering. Its main disadvantages are poor working conditions, low working efficiency, incomplete rust removal and difficult to ensure quality. Therefore, when using this method to remove rust, managers should focus on quality requirements.
2. Mechanical derusting
To improve the derusting quality and work efficiency. In order to improve the working conditions of construction personnel, pneumatic or electric small equipment is widely used in steel structure derusting. The main rust removal methods of the equipment used are:
Angle grinder: This small pneumatic equipment is mainly used to clean the surface. Sand paper, grinding wheel and wire brush can be used as required.
Needle beam rust remover: This small pneumatic equipment is generally equipped with 30 to 40 needle bundles. The needle bundle can be adjusted according to different working faces, and is mainly suitable for bending, narrow, uneven and sandwich places.
3. Sand blasting for rust removal
In projects where construction and maintenance can be stopped, sand blasting can be used to remove rust. Rust on steel structural members shall be removed by sandblasting machine to reveal the true color of metal. Better sand blasting machine can automatically screen out the fine powder of stone yellow sand, iron sand or iron shot to prevent dust from flying and reduce the impact on the health of operators. This method can completely remove rust. It is also highly efficient and has been widely used in developed countries. It is a relatively advanced rust removal method.
4. Remove rust with acid cleaning paste
You can buy special rust removing acid cleaning cream on the market. The use method is to apply the pickling paste on the surface of the component under the quilt, with a thickness of about one to two millimeters. After soaking and rolling for a proper time, peel off a small piece of acid. Check the rust removal with cleaning paste. If the metal color is exposed on the surface of the element, peel off a small piece of pickling paste to check the rust removal, rinse with water and completely remove the residual acid. Except for some special cases, this rust removal method is rarely used at present.
