New Trend of Green Environment Protection in Steel Structural Buildings

Compared with the traditional concrete structure and masonry structure, the steel structure housing has the following obvious advantages:


1. Steel structure has light weight, which is about 1/3 to 1/2 of ordinary reinforced concrete structure, so it can reduce the earthquake action and the cost of foundation and foundation treatment.


2. The steel has good toughness and the steel structure has good seismic performance. The investigation of earthquake damage in Taiwan 9.21 earthquake shows that the damage rate of reinforced concrete buildings is 52.5%, brick masonry structures are 24.1%, and steel structures are only 0.6%.


3. Steel structure is one of the most suitable structural forms for industrial production. It is easiest to realize standardization of design, industrialization of structural parts production, socialization of product supply, mechanization and assembly of construction, and serialization of market consumption.


4. Steel structure design has large elasticity, wide applicability and small cross-section, which can improve the efficiency of building space use.


5. Steel structure can be constructed by dry construction, saving water, low labor cost, short construction period, less construction area, less noise and dust, and less adverse impact on the environment in the construction process.


6. The use of steel structure can greatly reduce the use of concrete and bricks and tiles, reduce the amount of rock excavation and soil extraction, and is conducive to environmental protection. For buildings of the same scale, the CO2 emission of steel structure can be reduced by 1/3 compared with that of reinforced concrete structure.


7. It is easy to rebuild and demolish steel structure, less solid waste and high recycling rate of materials.
